time frame questions

Just curious if anyone knows the time frames on these 2 things:

Vaccinations- Correct me if I am wrong, but you need to have these done before for the medical by your family doc???? How recent does that have to be? Can I do 6 months ahead? Or does it have to be within a certain amount of time of your interview?

Police Records check- When does this have to be dated? again, Can I get it done well before my interview? I know there is about a 2 month wait at my local police station for them. I am wondering if I can go ahead and apply for it and just have it, so when I need it, its done without having to stress about it. Is getting it 6 months too early? Does the date on it matter if its within a year?

Thanks for your help :-)

The I-693 can only be filled out by a Civil Surgeon. Yes you can get your vaccinations done by your family doctor at anytime. But you will still need to see the Civil Surgeon before your interview to do your medical exam and fill out the form. As far as the police report they may want something more recent than 6 months. Check with the Embassy you will be going through to make sure.

Police check has to be with in ONE year! No criminal record = NO fingerprinting!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

My husbands Police record was only valid for three months in Algeria. Check it by country. When he went for his interview he had to get another one since the original one sent expired, way under a year. The embassy called him on it, but we were prepared with the new copy. But the previous answer was from Canada... so they override here.

As for the vaccinations, yes you can get them anywhere, however my husband got his during his medical exam. They just gave him any he was missing and was good to go.
