Hello everyone! I'm sorry if this is posted under the wrong forum but I wasn't quite sure where to put our situation, be it under Canada, Military or here.

I am new to VJ but have read a lot of excellent resources here to kick start the process and am hoping someone might be able to offer a bit of insight into the best approach for us. We are not quite ready to start filing but are just looking into our options now.

Here is our story:

My boyfriend and I are not engaged but are planning to within the next 6 months. We met and fell in love while I was teaching English in South Korea (I am a Canadian citizen) and he is still currently stationed there with the US Air Force (he goes back stateside the end of this month). I am now living in Scotland studying for my formal teaching course and will be until the end of June 2013. We do not want to be apart longer than we need to after June 2013 (end of my obligations in Scotland) as it will have already been a long 10 months. We feel like the K-1 visa is best for us as it is not a problem for my family and close friends to come for the wedding, and it will enable his family and best friends to attend as well. He has two years left of service to complete.

Herein lie my questions: Is it possible for him to file for the K-1 visa while I am living abroad somewhere that is not my home country and attend the interview at the embassy in London? Or must I be in Canada to wait out the entire process?

Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions!

Hello and welcome to the forum star_smile.gif

Yes, it's possible for him to file a K1 visa petition while you are living abroad. You will interview at that country as long as you are residing there legally.

Given the scenario you presented, it seems like you should not have any trouble doing this.
