Translation requirements, K1 visa for Brazilian

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read this toopic. I was curious to know if my Brazilian fiancee needs to have her police documents and other supporting documents (for K1 visa) translated from Portugues to English? The USCIS site says "any document containing foreign language submitted to the service shall be accompanied by a full English translation, which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate foreign language into English". However, I also read that this is not necessary if you are a Brazilian, filing in Brazil.

Thank you!

Chris

She will not need translations for any document written in Portuguese that will be presented at the Embassy at the time of her interview. With that said, she will need translations of her birth certificate and divorce decree (if applicable) after you guys get married, to file for AOS.

I'm assuming she was not married before, because I see that you have already sent the application in. If she was married, you should have sent a copy of her divorce decree and that one should have been translated.
