Randy,

bom apetite

JaJo! MUITO obrigado por o receita do moqueca!! Eu vou tentar!

24 Large Shrimp (in their shells)

Juice of 1 lime

3 garlic cloves, chopped

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

1 tablespoon fresh or canned tamarind paste

Sea salt for taste

1 tablespoon fresh black peppercorns, crushed

6 18-inch lengths of spliced sugarcane or skewers

Wash and dry shrimp and place in shallow pan. In a medium bowl, combine garlic, cilantro, tamarind paste, salt, and crushed peppercorn and mix thoroughly. Whisk in lime juice and olive oil.

Toss the mixture with the shrimp, cover and referigerate for an hour or longer.

Skewer the shrimp. Place them on a grill for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, basting them remaining marinade.

Serve with grilled mango and pineapple spears or Vatapá.

I love this shrimp dish..made it twice and had my Brasilian friends over who loved it too!!! Bom apetite!

 Laura, vc pede receitas light e quer encher de manteiga??? Shame on you!

Randy, thanks for the recipe, sounds good, though it remindes me more of something from Asia (Philipines, Indonesia...) than brazilian cusine.

Feijão Tropeiro (Beans with seasoned cassava flour)

Ingredients:

1Kg (2lb) of pinto or kidney beans

250g (1 cup) of cassava (yuca) flour

1 Kg (2lb) variety of sausages

2 cloves of garlic, crushed

3 small sliced onions

250g (1/2 lb) sliced bacon

2 hard boiled eggs

2 tbs of chopped green onions

First, let the beans soaking in water overnight, or if you have a pressure cooker, go to step 2. If you do not have a pressure cooker, cook the beans for 60 minutes in regular pan or until tender (could take a couple of hours).

Step 2: place beans in pressure cooker, cover with water until it's one inch above the beans. Place the lid on pressure cooker and cook in medium heat. The beans will be ready 20 minutes after the regulator starts to blow steam.

Strain the beans and set aside. Place a large skillet in medium heat and fry chopped pork bacon and pieces of your favorite sausage until golden brown. Chop sausage into small pieces. Add the manioc meal (6cassava flour) while stirring with a wooden spoon.

Remove from heat and place the beans in a large serving dish. Decorate the edges with slices of sausage, green onions and the boiled eggs. Serve with collard greens and white rice.

Enjoy!

Bacio!

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008
