vaccinations

hey everybody!

I know this has been discussed many times, but I was wondering about the Hepatitis vaccination. On USCIS I found that vaccines are dependent on age and therefore hepatitis would not be needed, since I am 25. But I did have my shots and it was a requirement when I came here on a J1, for that reason it should already be clear that I had it, or I wouldnt be here right? For some reason I have all vaccines shown in my book except for that one, there is not even a page that indicates it? My civil surgeon hardly speaks English, so I have no idea how well we will be able to communicate. As far as my understanding goes I only need the flu-shot, since everything else was refreshed in 2009.

So is it necessary and do I have to provide proof I got it?

Thanks!

The hepatitis shot is only needed if you're 18 and under. Since you're 25, it's not needed whatsoever, so you don't need to bring proof of it.

Ok thanks. I will print out what I found on USCIS.gov which states what you are saying. The civil surgeon said he can make up his own rules when I called him and asked about it. So yea we will see how that goes ;)

Hopefully he goes by what USCIS states, and not by his own rules.

I know right, if they could do that there wouldn't be any guidelines. I heard some not so good stuff about him - he doesn't speak English well and is a little creepy. Sadly he is the only one in my area... cross your fingers for me^^

I was about to suggest to go elsewhere, but if he's the only one in the area... Good luck! *keeps fingers crossed*

Yay so I just finished my medical. He waived Hepatitis, but made me take a test to confirm I had the chickenpox. $200 for the medical, plus $75 for the test. I am happy I'm done!

Another thing tho: It is not a problem that my medical has my current name + address (changing my name the end of next month, and my address in December). I asked him, but he hardly speaks English so I am not sure if he understood what i meant^^

Woah, that's weird a test was needed to confirm chickenpox. On the official site, it states a VERBAL declaration of having chickenpox is sufficient. No test needed headbonk.gif

But oh well, what's done is done.
