your husband needs to file application for Renunciation of Indian Citizenship along with Indian passport. You can check travisa website for required documents list and will show you the address where it needs to be mailed. I think fee for it is around $190 or more. It takes less than 2 weeks in most cases.

Indian consulate is such a rip off they charge you $190 to send the passport back.

When they started this process there was a huge outcry over the $190 fees so they had reduced it for few months and than they jeacked it up back to $190.

Yes, really ripped off! To even give up their citizenship, they charge the expensive fee $190. Wish if they had some reasonable fee under $50.

Travisa is handling all the services related to Indian passport and renunciation services for ex-India citizens.

You can book an appointment and fill out a renunciation form, pay the fee online and attend the nearest Travisa office. They will return the passport by the end of the day or send it to you at a nominal shipping charge.

Your old passport will be returned with a canceled stamp on it and a banded together ( yes ..using a rubber band) with a paper/application you filled out online saying the renunciation has been acknowledged. Do not separate them on your trip to India or India IO's can cause enough pain to make things straight. So on your next trip to India you will travel with a Old India passport, the renunciation form and the POE card/ US passport.

FYI, It's $190 only if you became a naturalized citizen after June 1st, 2010. Otherwise it's only $35.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Please need immediate guidance, sorry i don't know how to post...Hope some one here assist me..

Please advice on the following points urgently:-

01. My minor girls aged 10 and 13 travelled from India to USA on 15th May 2014 along with their

Parents on Green Card.

02. We have a returned ticket to India for travel on 12th June 2014 so that both of them can

go to school in India on 16th June 2014.

03. Based on their Fathers Naturalized Certificate (USA Citizen) both the Girls have got their

USA Passport issued to them on 10th May 2014. They are still holding Green card and

valid Indian Passport.

04. Both the girls didn't apply for Certificate of Naturalization as yet, but will do so before

they turn 14 years old.

05. Since we don't have enough time to surrender Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa to

travel to India on USA Passport since this process takes about 3 to 4 weeks as we will miss

our travel dates to India.

06. Can we travel back to India with Indian Passport and Green Card and once in India complete

formalities to surrender Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa for 2 years on USA Passport

with Foreigners Registration office in India and at the same time apply for OCI while staying in

India.

07. To get renunciation certificate after surrendering Indian Passport and get multiple entry visa

on USA passport in USA takes about 3 to 4 weeks and we cannot take a chance to loose

our return paid ticket to India to wait here to complete the paper work and be late to school.

08. Hence decided to travel back to India on Indian Passport. Will this create problems for us in

India. I believe 3 months grace period is given to surrender Indian Passport once a Foreign

Citienship holding USA Passport without any penalty fees or fines.

Please advise me in details with all the points and with clear picture what can be done in this case.

Thanking the team in Advance, i had much help earlier from this team to help me with my interview process.ad

Your first question is not clear.

Your minor girls came to US with indian passport while parents were on green card ,then later you say that you are naturalized citizen of US then how are you still on green card, don't you have US passport.

If your girls came on US passport its not legal to hold indian passport.

Its written clearly on indian passport that once you acquire other nationality its illegal to hold Indian passport, you need to surrender it.Its not legal to travel on Indian passport anymore, open passport and read the instructions carefully ,its clearly mentioned there.

You still have 1 month before going back, its better for everyone to surrender it right now instead of paying fine of big amount later on.

I am not sure about applying OCI while in india.

but for applying OCI too you need to surrender indian passport first.

better to go to BLS website and search for answers.

Thanx for responding flora.

My children got greencard based on father's who is citizen of U.S. We entered U.S on IR1 visa and got greencard. Kids become automatically U.S citizen based aupon father. Mother is on greencard. That's how they got their U.S passport and now we have to surrender Indian Passport and get Indian visa or OCI. Got to know that CKGS that is Cox & kings global services has taken charge of handling indian visa/pio/oci etc..Bsl is quitting. Thanks for response i got the available information on CKGS website n spoke to customer service.
