We had our interview today at San Fernando Valley Field office. This is a new location, it was part of LA office and they opened this one earlier this year to take care of people from Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara County, Ventura County and San Fernando County.

Our appointment is at 12:30pm, we got there around 11:45am. My name was called at 12:20, we walked up to the officer. He didn’t bring us in the office right away, instead he asked for my passport and the hubby’s Birth certificate. He checked those and asked me if I speak or understand English, I said yes. Then we walked to his office. He swore us in and told us to sit down. He read the basic information on the application which is the name, address and phone numbers, and make sure they are all correct. He asked how long we have been married, we said a little over 6 months, then he explained the ROC stuff, and asked me all the “have you ever been” questions on I-485. Since I am from China, he asked if I am in the Communist party, I said no. He then asked If I always been an F1 or have I ever gotten J1 visa, I said no J1 before. He kept checking everything on my files, and mumbling “fingerprints look good, physical looks good, affidavit of support looks good”. Then he asked “do you have any joint bank account?” So I gave him our joint bank statement, 2 years apartment least, joint phone bill, and the contract for our recently purchased house. He was like “wow, that’s very good, that’s a strong one” blah blah blah. I asked him if he wants to see any pictures, he said no. So I sat back down, he asked the hubby when is my birthday and asked me when is his birthday. Then he said “you basically are approved, but I have to do some more check. If I need anything I will call you before 5pm. If you don’t get a call before 5pm, you are ok”. We left the building at around 12:30pm. He didn't take my I-94 nor the EAD.

The whole interview last no more than 5 minutes, and the officer is very nice and professional. He is a white male around his 40s.

I just checked my status online, my I-485 changed to “card production”! Thank god! I guess I won’t be getting a phone call. :P :P
