What does the Transfer of I-130 mean for me?

Hi everyone,

I recently sent out my I-130 packet through USPS on Sept. 6th 2012 with priority shipping and tracking to the Chicago Lockbox. USPS said they received the packet on Sept. 8th 2012. USCIS sent me a text on Sept. 11, 2012 that said "Your case was received. Receipt #xxxxxxxxxxx. Official receipt notice (form 1-797) to follow in mail." Now, I checked online on the USCIS website using my receipt number for an update on my case and it says that on Sept. 13, 2012 it was last "touched" and was written as Initial Review. It also says "On September 13, 2012, we transferred this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(e), OR ORPHAN to another office for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

They say they've "notified" me of this transfer, but I didn't get any texts or emails or mails (yet) of this transfer or as to where. Should I just wait until I do receive notification in mail or should I be concerned about anything?

I opened a topic earlier but no one helped me with that. Now I got two letters recently as well.

I just got two letters from the Vermont Service Center with a priority date of Sept 10, 2012. The second I-757C says that my I-130 has been transferred to USCIS-NBC in Lees Summit MO in Sept. 13. It says "We transferred this case because the record indicates that office has jurisdiction over the case. That office will notify you of subsequent action taken on this case. Another says they have receipt of getting the $420 I paid.

I have searched online a lot and I have found some sources that say this is because they want an interview from me, the petitioner. While other sources say that it is because they are just switching around service centers since they are backed up. Which is true? What should I expect? I'm extremely tensed and worried.

Mina- I would just advise you to call USCIS... THere have been plenty of cases that were transfered to differnt service centers. Since you just began this journey this step the I-130 uscis process is the longest from the others...Just call them and good luck....

Call USCIS and hear it from the horses mouth, as suggested earlier. No reason to stress or worry at this neo-natal stage. You still have a turbulent journey ahead of you. Enjoy the time till you get NOC2 and be patient. If you don't receive a mail because your online status states something else give the postal service time to deliver the mail before worrying much.

Just have patient and stay proactive. This is a good thing....

I got the hard copy of the NOA1 in hand...it says the Vermont Service Center. hen it says Transfer to USCIS- NBC. So I am a little confused. What does this mean? That they are all back up or that we have an issue?

[/quot

I just called USCIS costumer service. They told me that my case transferred to national benefits center in Missouri. And she asked me if my husband lives in US or lived before, I said NO and she said that they may be checking my husband’s name and if he been here or not. By the way did you include your husband’s birth certificate and background record … I forgot to include with my I-130. I hope everything goes well for both of us 

@moonmoon They don't ask for the birth certificate when you submit the I-130...they will ask for that later, if at all. Also, the G325A are the background information form. All of that was sent for me and my husband. Now, I keep hearing there's a lot of work-load which is why a lot of cases have been sent to NBC. Or it could be that there is a need of an interview...I don't know which one. That's what's worrying me is which one is it?

Thank you. They are recent too, so I'm assuming that a lot of people are in the same boat as I am.

Agreed. It's difficult enough that I had to leave my husband so far away. It's extremely difficult to accept when something causes the process to be longer. I hope USCIS is kind towards us and realizes how dire it is for us to be with our beloved.
