Do I need to add the coversheet to all the digital documents I am going to email NVC ?

For example, I am put all my pay stubs (in PDF) from 2012 into one folder. Should I add the coversheet in the first page later?

Thanks you !

The cover sheet has to be the FIRST page in the PDF that you email.

So, for the AOS package, the AOS bar-coded cover sheet will be the first page in the PDF.

For the IV package, the IV bar-coded cover sheet will be the first page in the PDF.

Does it mean I only attache the bar-coded cover sheet once in each package?

My understanding was there are several PDF files in the email.

My understanding was there are several PDF files in the email.

There should only be one PDF file for each package. One AOS file in one email. One IV file in another email.

Unless you're breaking the packages apart and sending multiple files with a bit of proof of relationship attached to each. (Example: DS-230 form with evidence, then the two passport pictures with evidence, then the passport bio-data page with evidence, etc etc).

We sent 3 files with AOS. (in one e-mail)

I-864

I-864A

AOS fee bill receipt

We put them each in separate pdf files each with their own cover page. We attached supporting documentation to the I-864 & I-864A pdf's

For the IV, we have 12 files. (in one e-mail)

DS-230, Petitioner birth, petitioner marriage, petitioner naturalization, petitioner name change, birth, marriage, police, GUZP3sup, passport biopage, passport photo, IV fee bill receipt

We put cover pages for each of them.

Unless you want to put them all together in one massive file, you should need cover pages for each of them. I would think that one huge file for all that stuff would be confusing. With no clear guidelines from NVC on how they want it prepared, it's a bit of guesswork.

I see. I won't need I-864A because I am the only sponsor.

Finally I've figured out how to combine PDF files on my Mac

For the AOS email, I am thinking about seven files in total:

1. I-864

2. AOS fee bill receipt

3. Pay stubs from 2012

4. Tax Return Transcript 2009

5. Tax Return Transcript 2010

6. Tax Return Transcript 2011

7. W2, Year of 2009,2010&2011

I will attach the coversheet to each file.

Cover page is the same as cover sheet?

Has anyone sent so many files in one email ?

Thank you very much !

Couple of things:

-You don't need the bill receipt. You do need the bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal though. And this should be the first page. If you're planning on having numerous files instead of one, I'd recommend putting the cover sheet as the first page for each file.

-Unless you filed your taxes jointly and need to show your own income, W2s are NOT needed if you're submitting tax transcripts. Generally, W2s are only needed if you're submitting tax returns.

-I personally wouldn't recommend breaking up your package in so many files, especially if it's going to be in just one email. It'll be extremely easy for an officer to overlook a file or two. I have to ask, why don't you just combine all the files into one package? This makes it 100% easier to read and see your entire package. By breaking up all the files in one email, the officer then needs to have like 5+ windows open with your files, instead of just one. Think like an officer, what would you prefer? Do you want to p*ss off the officer or make them happy? But, this is just my personal opinion. Do what you want, it's your case, not mine. I personally put everything in one file.

Very good point! Thank you Saylin :)

I will make a big PDF file now.

I will also remove the W2 forms in this case.

One more question, should I write something in the body of my email detailing what's in the file, sort of like a cover letter?

Thanks again!

For the body of the email: you NEED to include both the petitioner and beneficiary's: full names, email addresses, and dates of birth.

As for writing something like a cover letter, you can. But I personally included the cover letter in the package, as the second page, behind the bar-coded cover sheet.

hmmmmm.......If I was the officer, I think I would rather have each document separated in clearly labeled files so I could easily locate what I was looking for without having to scroll through 30-40 pages to try and find what I was looking for, but to each his own.

If you are going to build a document with that many pages, after the cover page, I would put an index page, so the officer can find what he/she is looking for easier.

One other thing. You don't need w-2's with tax transcripts, but you should have a recent pay stub and an employment letter.

Thank you all, Saylin, Mike & Lily... (F) (F) (F)

You all have a point and my guess is it all depends on what a particular officer prefers. I wish I could find out :crying:

So far there are 24 pages with my I-864 and three year transcripts. It's about 2.1MB, not too bad!

I tried to merge my pay stubs ( 14 pages so far this year,I don't make too much $$ and I'd rather show my income than my savings) with the 24 page file, however all the pay stub pages became tiny. I tried to solve the problem and it didn't work

I could print out all the pay stubs(they're available in PDF online originally) and rescan them. Or I am going to have two PDF attachments in the end because there are too many pages in the pay stub file anyway.

I did ask my employer to write a letter. Unfortunately I don't like it although everything is true. It says my work is available only on an as needed basis and my current gross earning, which doesn't meet the threshhold line yet.

I've been working with the same company for almost four years and I get paid by hours. I've met the threshhold line in the previous three years and I am positive it will be the same this year too.

Can they reject my case if I make slightly above the threshhold line? If so,I'd better show my savings.

How bad is it if I don't have an employment letter?

I need two more pay checks (one per two weeks) to meet that amount. I figure it's better to attach all my pay stubs than showing that letter.

Any input would be appreciated...

Thank you so much ! :star: :star: :star:

Do your pay stubs have a YTD (year-to-date) amount on them? If so, you really only need the latest one.

Aha, it does!

I didn't think of it :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Thank you Saylin

Fantastic! kicking.gif Just need to send the latest one then! I'd suggest highlighting that pay stub's amount as well as the YTD amount. Make it easier for the officer ;)
