Hi, just in the process of preparing documents for the AOS and IV packets. My husband is serving as my primary sponsor and we have a joint sponsor who is completing an I-864 in addition to the one completed by my husband. I was wondering if the joint sponsor is required to complete the I-864A when he is not part of my husband's household, and as far as I'm aware does not intend to use any of the assets of his household members towards my sponsorship? Also, do we need to establish how my joint sponsor is related to me?

My husband is currently working as a part-time law clerk, while in law school and he has a letter of employment and his pay stubs since he began this employment in May. I know that it is advisable to submit the most recent 6 months' worth of pay stubs, but if he does not have six months worth of pay stubs by the time he submits the AOS packet, is this likely to be problematic. As he only began this job in May, this income is not listed on any of his past 3 tax transcripts or returns; if this is likely to cause issues, is there any way to get around this?

As for the IV packet, I have obtained a UK PCC and previously lived in the USA while on an F-1 visa, so I know that I do not need to obtain a U.S PCC. However, I recall reading something about obtaining both a PCC and some form of passport clearance certificate on one of the NVC filing threads. So do I need to obtain any other certificates for the IV packet?

Thanks!

If the joint sponsor is NOT part of your husband's household, they would fill out an I-864, not I-864A. And no proof of relationship needed in that case. And if I recall correctly, the only time proof is needed is within the same household.

For pay stubs, it certainly doesn't need to be 6 months worth. If his pay stubs have a year-to-date (YTD) amount on them, then he really only needs the most recent one. And don't worry about it not showing up on past tax transcripts. That's the whole point of pay stubs and an employment letter: to prove CURRENT income.

The passport clearance certificate is specific to India. For the UK, all you need is the police certificate.
