Pinecone Research is an excellent one. They pay $5 a survey, plus sometimes you get to test new products and review them(also get $$). They send a check within a day or two of completing the survey. The only downside is that you can only join by "invitation". You have to find one of their banners to join(one can usually be found by googling). There is no registration fee, and I wouldn't ever pay to take surveys, they should be paying you! I've got some links if you want them, but Pinecone is the only one I've ever got any money from (the rest are usually entries in contests or points that you have to accumulate before you get any money). It's not something you can make a lot of money doing, it's more for fun.

I did Pinecone research while in Canada, can't do it from the USA, at least you couldn't, maybe that has changed. I got the invite from clicking on a website banner. Really wasn't in it for the $$$, only like $5 a survey, but got to sample some cool stuff. Would get mailed cereals, candy, and even got one frozen meal (came in dry ice) Was sort of neat to try things prior to them hitting store shelves.

I did a mystery shopper job last week. $10 for the job plus a free meal at Jerry steaks and subs. have done a few for the same company the past yr. (satisfaction services inc) Again don't really do it for the $$, but sort of neat to go into some stores and learn a lot of info. One job was at a very high end electronics store.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
