Hi,

My 485/131 was recieved yesterday by Chicago yesterday!!

Now what happens?

I get my NOA1 and then I wait for a letter for my Biometrics, right? About how long does it take to recieve that?

Can I file for SSN in the mean time?

What happens after biometrics?

now that it's sent, my best advice to you is...have a seat. make yourself comfortable.

Ya its basically time to wait again ... I am sure you are used to that from the K-1 :)

So basically you will receive your NOA1 and lately they seem to be sending off biometric appointment letters within a few weeks of the NOA1s ... After that you pray for a CSC transfer and a speedy approval ....

And you can apply for the SSN now if you like (actually you could have applied for it earlier) ... It is better to get that done now so when you get your EAD or GC you already have it ...

Hello!

Good day!

what is next is you wait for the appointment letter for your biometrics. I got mmy letter after a month and my biometrics done less than a month after recieving the letter of appointment. Bring the appointment letter to the service center on day of biometrics. You will have all your finger digits scanned and then your photo taken. it takes about 20 minutes to do this. then you will be given a form to fill out on your comments for suggestion and about the staffs performance.

After the biometrics have been done, in a months time you will be getting your EAD by mail if you applied for one. Then you will get a notice for initial interview

Yes, you can get an SSN while waiting. I did get my SSN on the first month when I arrived in the USA. As long as you bring your passport, original birth certificate when applying for SSN.

Get a driving license while waiting too.

Very important too to bring all necessary documents everytime you do transaction.

I was under the impression that i should wait for 2 weeks from POE... it will be this thursday.

Is that not neccessary?

Ohh sorry I didn't relise that you managed to get married so quickly after your arrival :) ...

Although most people will tell you to wait 2 weeks, I waited 10 days and had no problem getting my SSN ...
