According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

And there Ladies and Gentlemen is the solution to the problem. Remove all incentives for them to be here and they will leave on their own and not come back. Just enforce the laws we have. No need to round up 10 million people, no need to build a wall. JUST ENFORCE THE LAW!!!!

To an extent, I agree but not every one of "them" is working at jobs, some start their own "business". Hot Dog and Taco stands are popping up all over here in Tucson and I wonder the status of the "operators" of these "establishments". I also wonder how enforcing the current laws would effect these people, how they are regulated...or even IF they are regulated.

Mind you if all of the sudden there were 10 million hot dog and taco stands to suddenly open then many would most definately fail!

True but notice how I quoted business in my statement, I do not know but I often wonder if these "establishments" are following the letter of the law.

There again, just enforce the laws. All laws. Either enforce them or repeal them.

Unfortunately, I'm with Purple Hibiscus on this one and I don't agree that enforcement is the answer. Is it really so out there of an idea that we won't even consider the cause and effect relationship of the various world problems. I've tried to no end to point out on this thread the various reasons WHY illegal aliens cross over that border. Am I really the only one who sees that to fix a problem you have to address the cause? Well, me and PH. If we're going to spend money, why not spend it on making Mexico livable for Mexicans? Give Juan Illegal a REASON to want to stay SAFE at home, with his wife and kids where he belongs. Make that a viable solution for him. We're so obsessed with looking powerful and mean that we won't even consider a more humanitarian, but also more effective, solution to the problem. That's really sad!

And further, as PH said, once these things are done...once Mexico (or whatever country) is livable for its inhabitants, there will be no need for walls.

so in short, if we want to stop being invaded, we should give mexico lots of money so they'll stay there?

i can think of some solutions that would make juan illegal want to stay safe at home - land mines on the border

Either way, we'll be spending lots of money. We can either waste it on a wall, or use it where it can be of some assistance.

Heina, I agree that enforcement alone isn't going to solve the underlying problem entirely - the economic disparity between Mexico and the U.S. We don't have the same problem with Canadians for obvious reasons. Statistics have shown that we experienced a huge influx of illegal immigrants after NAFTA and so in a way, we brought it on ourselves...for the sake of a few corporations benefitting.

The hatefulness that just spews from you is absolutely disgusting. I don't know how you can have such ugly and nasty feelings toward other human beings.

how about we dig a canal between brownsville to san diego, truck the dirt to new orleans and build it up (thus preventing another katrina disaster) and move the displaced alligators to the newly created canal?
