I'm from the US my fiancé is from the Phillipines. We met online in march 6 months ago. I went to the phillipines on July1-16th.

Should we file for a K1 with me only having made one trip there? Do I need to make another trip to better the chances of getting approved?

No you don't need to make another trip. I applied after one trip and I just got my NOA2 a few days ago. As long as your relationship is valid and you have proof of your visit you should be fine. I applied within one week after I visited.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12

NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12
Manila Embassy received 9/5/12
Visa appointment & approval 9/7/12
Arrived in US 10/5/2012

Update your timeline huh. :bonk::P:jest:

You actually beat your estimate, and you were at VSC. :wow:

OP, I agree with the others. Of course, the more time one is with another, it can strengthen a case, but the only requirement is to have met at least once in that 2 years prior to filing. I don't see a problem with one visit.

I have tried to but VJ website won't allow me. I recently have a new windows operating system and when I try to go to the dropdown menu it quickly takes me to my profile and won't allow me to access my timeline.

Good advice from Members.. You are free to File at anytime within that 2 year set requirement and does not require a second trip. What is required is proof of a ongoing relationship. Keep all records/Submit your 129-F Accurately. Good luck !

Thanks a bunch!

Couple more questions. I was told my fiancé needs to send me a copy of her birth certificate and a police report as well as police reports for any countries she had worked if there over 6 months. I didn't see or read that ion this site.

Is this true?

You've met the petition requirement for any embassy. Now for some embassies adding another trip after filing may be god for the interview stage.

She'll need those for her interview at the embassy. You don't need those now.

It is true for the visa interview at USEM. This is not a requirement of the initial I-129F petition filing though. You can check the links in my signature for what you will need to gather and steps to take in Manila after your petition is approved.

Strange. Maybe browser compatibility issue?

For a petition to be approved you are fine. For a VISA to be approved that is more consulate specific. Go ahead and file the petition now but it may be advisable to visit more before she applies for the visa.

It is a good idea to send her Birth Certificate in BEST COLOR COPY with the 129-F Petition front and back. The Police Clearance has a 6 month expiration date as I recall, maybe another member can confirm this. If she was in other Countries for a period of time then those clearances maybe required as well. Her Passport will devulge to USCIS any visits and the periods of time.

I believe police clearance (other countries) as well as NBI are good for 12 months? Would be best to obtain closer to the projected interview date either way. Why send beneficiary birth certificate with the I-129F?
