my wife is a usc living in england on a student visa. she has lived here over the 6 month minimum and obviously has legal right of residence.

what i dont understand is, why is the application to the london embassy so much easier than the chicago lockbox? they do not want all the supporting documents such as photo's, bank statements etc.

im just confused and skeptical to be honest.

can anyone shed some light on this please?

You should still bring the evidence to interview, they may ask for it. The bankstatement in particular may still be needed, as it goes not just to bonafide marriage but also to the affidavit of support (I-864), which IS still needed. But basically, the fact that you live together for 6+ months is evidence enough in most low fraud countries.

You need to take those documents to the interview. They sometimes ask for it, sometimes they dont. It used to not be possible to file DCF while on a student visa in London. But i have just checked the page that said it and that statement is no longer there http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/uscis/i130filing.html so it might be something worth checking on first if you do go for DCF.

If you file at Chicago or London, the first part is the same. The difference come after petition approval. Chicago filed goes to process at NVC where you do the financial documentation, birth certificate, police report, etc, apply for visa, pay fees. Then interview in London.

London filed present all the documentation at the interview. DCF skips NVC but the documentation is the same.
