Hello Everyone,

I just heard about this forum, and I thought it be a good place to ask some questions I've hard a hard time answering on other web sources. I'm a 30 year old Male, engaged to a 29 year old female from Canada. She's diagnosed with Schizophrenia and has been for a few years now and been on disability there. We meet online back in 2004 and have been together since 2005. We've spent time with each other here and Canada numerous times through the years and i purposed to her during the holidays in 2010.

I meet the HHS threshold for yearly income, but I'm having a hard time finding out information on how her disability could impact her possible visa/green card for us to get married, and if she'd have any problems having her disability status transferred from Canada to the U.S. . She want's to work though, she just was not able to find a job in her province due to poor french skills(she lives in Quebec currently, where you have to be near fluent in it to hold a job).

I honestly don't know how i should even begin to approach the process and what hurdles me way face in the process of getting her here permanently. I'd greatly appreciate any input those who have dealt with/are dealing with may be able to share.

If she wants to work then the fiance visa isn't the way to go. There is a period of time where the foreigner cannot work. A person with a spousal visa can work immediately on entry. You should check with your insurance about adding a wife with a preexisting condition and figure that out separately.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

The above thread will give you some info as to your fiance's health coverage after she gets down there.

I'm not sure about the medical exam etc but here is some reading to start you off on that: http://www.visajourney.com/content/medical

Best wishes on your visajourney!
