PHILIPPINES MEMBERS - Let me know here:

I have a sneaky suspicion that St. Lukes screwed up but I need confirmation.

My fiancee was told after her medical she needed the sputum testing so she went the three days for the swab that came back negative.

A few days later a letter from the Embassy arrives to both of us that says "Your case is eligible to be scheduled for a visa interview. You must pay the K visa application fee before you can schedule a visa appointment."

Then more information about the process here ---

This looks officially like she CAN make the visa appointment? I am sure that even though St. Lukes told her she needed to wait for sputum clearance it looks like the embassy has approved her for the interview -- what I want to know is there others that have also received this letter that were told the might have to wait the 60 days?

The letter from the US Embassy is a letter they send to the beneficiary to give them further instructions and website details for more update when they receive the packet from NVC. Some beneficiaries get it, some dont. I got mine before I had my medical scheduled. I would suggest to check the date on the letter. Yes, you are eligible to have your interview scheduled but I suggest you wait for the sputum results or the St. Luke's clearance.

you need the medical clearance from st lukes for interview, you cant have your interview unless your cleared with your medical. :)

The Embassy's standard operating procedure is to wait until you receive their eligibility letter before you have your medical and schedule your interview.

However, most people here on VJ schedule their interview and complete their medical as soon as they get their MNL case number from the NVC, and long before the Embassy sends out their eligibility letter.

It's just a coincidence that you received the Embassy letter at this time. Disregard it, because the TB culture needs to be completed before the interview.

I recieve letter from embassy when i done with my medical in slec so i just disgard the letter bcoz of the reason that i need to wait for the depressing 8 weeks to come back in slec. I was under sputum for 3 days also but still thankful the result was negative. So don't worry about the letter bcoz you really need to wait the 2 months culture done..Good Luck and God Bless.

USEM will NOT interview her until she pass her medical exam. The mail that they sent out is just part of their standard operating procedure.

No, it's not random. You will undergo sputum collection, smear tests, and a culture if St. Lukes sees anything abnormal on your chest x-ray, or if you were exposed to anyone who has had TB.

Posted (edited)

So, apparently today, my wife went down to St. lukes [2nd day](suppose to taker her vaccinations) but she was told to take a "sputum test", because of her Xray results due to coughing.

my wife also told me that she needs to go in medication for the next 3 days and return again 2 months later for her results.

she also told me that St. lukes will schedule her "interview date", instead of NVC., meaning we would have to wait longer for her to come here..=(
