Hey.

Our situation is this: Me (21 year old from Norway) and my girlfriend (popping the question on next visit! 18 year old from the US) have been looking into the process of getting me a visa so that I can move to the States.

After reading a bit here on the forum, it seems that most couples are a bit older with jobs. So my concern is that we will have a hard time seeing as when we eventually start the application process, she will either be ending her senior year in high school or just started college. She won't have a lot of money, and at best will only have a part time job.

I have a job here, so I'm saving up as much as I can leading up to this.

Is it possible for us at all to get a visa with our ages and financial situation?

The ages: yes

The financial situation: she will need a co-sponsor; someone to stand guarantoor for you.

She is indeed! This is good news! I hope things work out for us.

While I'm at it here I'm gonna put another question out there:

The medical examination, what sort of things will make you not pass? I have a bad back, is that gonna be a problem in the grand scheme of things?

I believe that they are mostly concerned about public communicable diseases such as tuberculoses, etc. Your back shouldn't be a problem. here is a link for you to get familiar with medical http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html#_What_if_there_1

Thanks for all the replies and help! I feel more optimistic about this whole thing, and hopefully in the not too distant future I can be with my love :)
