When you think all is well and you are about to cross the finish line something drastic happens and leave u wondering "what now"?. As per my time line you will have noticed that we are awaiting approval of AOS and IV and hopefully an interview date. Today my husband call me with the terrible news that he got lay off of his permanent job. Ok call it what you wish but I prefer to say what else can go wrong. After we waited for all this time to be at this stage this happen. What are our options now does anyone know? His taxes were already submitted along with his pay stubs and job letter showing enough income for house hold. Should we just wait to see what happens when the interview date come? Is there some way that NVC or the embassy call up IRS and place of emplayment to ask questions. Hmm I feel so depressed now. Share your views VJers please I would love to hear what you think we should no now. My husband have started looking for another job but as well all know, the job market is a tough place these days. Oh well ty for reading.

I suggest you say nothing at all. When the docs were submitted that circumstance was all that could be reported. The same forces that caused him to lose his job could work to cause him to return to work with just a small change. Or at least lets hope so. One good thing about everything going wrong is you can be sure it only has one other way to go and thats right.

Your case will be decided on the info submitted. Should there be questions the truth will have to do and should be sufficent. I have never heard of the agencies calling each other except in a very special case.

Try and not let this get you too far down. I think it will all be fine in the end.

I'm really to sorry to hear that this has happened, especially at this stage of the process. I hope and pray that your luck will change for the better very soon. Although I would hope that no further checks are conducted and that you will be able to get by, I would also want to be prepared in case the worst does happen. So if I was you, I would see if there is any way that you could find a Joint sponsor, just in the off chance that things fall through, I sincerely hope that all goes well for you but just to be prepared. A joint sponsor can be any U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident who's income and/or assets satisfy the necessary criteria. Do you know of any friends or family members either of your husband or yourself, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and may be willing to serve as a Joint Sponsor? Look into this now, so that you have a back up plan. All the best and keep us posted.

Good advice. I would recommend having the AOS paperwork filled out by a joint sponsor, and take that to the interview. So if this comes up, you can share that with the interviewer to satisfy the requirement.

Bear in mind that if you came to a situation where you needed a joint sponsor you would be given time to find one and submit the docs. The only problem with this is the time required to do so would set back the issuance of the Green Card.

We got an RFE at the AOS for example. They just told us to get the required docs and submit them when we were ready. We did so and my green card was sent two weeks later.
