Hello Everyone,

I visit this site often and read all the post but this is the first I'm posting myself. I have a question...my husband has ana interview with the embassy on Aug 13th and all out paperwork looks good. Actually we had it check by a lawyer before sending it out but while he check he noticed I a mistake on my take returns. This was the 1st time I did my taxes by myself online and I made few mistakes. He said it was fine since my father co-sponsored and his income is well over the 125% line. So my question is does anyone know if that will hurt my husbands chances of getting the visa? I'm really nervous about it. If anyone can help than that would be great. Thank you

Syeda1120, my opinion and thought on this:

At this moment, don't worry as the interview is next month, in 15 days. Whatever done is done and I don't think that's a big boo-boo you made. It is not that you missed some documents, or send incorrect ones, rather something with some mistakes. If by now you know the mistakes and you need to make an amendment, I would suggest do so and send (fax, scan and email) it to your husband for just in case someone points out the mistake. Plus as you adequately qualify (with the co-sponsor) for the 'Support', this may not be an issue.

I would not recommend you to contact NVC, or Embassy and volunteer the mistake. However, what you should be concerned about is the upcoming interview and make sure you prepare your hubby as well as possible. He should be ready or have some answer (yes or no) on this tax related mistake, but has to be reasonable and logical. Keep in mind, the interview process can be quiet different depending on what sex are you, male or female. The AP (advanced processing) rarely takes place for females where as it's pretty standard for males.

Finally there is no certainly in this process and I am sure you figured that out by now. So just get him prepared, give him the support and things will be just fine and that's all we can hope for.

Good luck.

Whether your mistake will impact visa issue depends on the nature of the mistake. If it's about income or taxes and your income doesn't qualify anyway, it's probably not a problem. What kind of mistake did you make?

As long as your reported annual gross income is correct on your tax return, then you should be fine. In any case, you have a co-sponsor with more than 125% line so you should not worry.

@ pshbrk- I run one of my dad's business so I am issued a 1099 and not a W2 so when I did it online the figures where put in the wrong place because the online system put it in as if I have a W2.

Probably not an issue for the visa but sounds like you need to file an amended tax return.
