Hello everyone,

I just became a USA citizen a month ago and well I haven't applied for a passport yet. I just have my certificate. The thing is that I'm new to all this citizen stuff because I've been a resident since I came here, so I really don't understand. Now I'm applying for a job but it's asking me for my visa number and I don't know where it is at? I looked in my certificate and it has two number the first is on top on the right with big red letters and than the other one is smaller with black letters it starts with an A. Do I have to get a passport to get a visa number or where can I find what my visa number is? Thanks

USA Citizens don't have visas in the USA. USA Citizens also don't need to have passports as long as they stay in the USA. You will need your American passport to re-entry the USA should you leave the country. Welcome to citizenship my fellow American.

First... Congratulations on becoming a US citizen!!

Now that you are a US citizen you I don't believe you would be entering VISA number on an employment app.

A US passport won't have a VISA number. You get a VISA number to enter a different country

(i.e. as a US citizen, I had to have a VISA to visit Madagascar - there was a number on that VISA)

What exactly is the question on the application that is requiring a VISA number?

Thank you. It says to put my visa status and number in the application for proof that I am able to work in here

Write USA Citizen where they ask the visa status.
