jc, I'm printing the cover sheet and it looks almost identical to the AOS cover sheet same address too. The only difference is one says submit application for immigrant visa and alien registration with supporting civil documents and the other says affidavit of support. Same address...........

Good! I should have been more specific (For the AOS, it said ATTN: CMR AOS and for the IV, it said ATTN: CMR). Not that big difference.

One other thing i want to ask is can we send copies or they need originals?

Angkorthom,

You must send:

  • Originals
  • Photocopies of all originals
  • Translations of any documents that are not in English

You want for the process to go fast. If you do not include copies, it's like you are asking for the NVC guys to make copies for you. :)

Hi! Can someone help me. I am planning to file a petition for my parents. How did you submit a proof of citizenship? Will my certificate of citizenship be enough for both application? How did you guys do it?

Any assistance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

No problem. We are here to help each in this long journey to reunite with our loved ones! I know how hard to gather these documents when a coming to a non-english speaking country. Sometimes, our relatives asked why they have to go through all this just for them to come here. smile.pngbiggrin.png

Great, i have to get a birth cert for myself and translation. I have a US issued marriage cert so i'll just copy that for them. I'm almost there, i just need for my parents to send the civil docs and i should send this out to the NVC. Does anybody know if there is any fee on their end when they go for an interview?

Better to send certified copies of your marriage certificate. One certified copy for each of the IV packet. During my parents interview, US Embassy in Manila Philippines returned one of my certified copy of marriage certificate.

Your parents are only going to pay for medical fee for their medical examination. No fee for the interview since you will be the one to pay for that before you send the IV packets.

So send them orginal marriage certs? I think i have one only i have to get another then. Also do you know if i should be sending them visa application part 1 or both? They sent me a letter in my email saying part 1 with supporting documents.

Send certified copies of marriage certificate from your vital records county.

My parents filled up the whole DS-230 form. Had their signature (sign) Part I of page 2.

Left Part 2 page 4 unsigned, since they are to sign this infront of the consular officer during interview.

Send both Part i & Part II of your parents DS-230.

Hello Angkorthom,

I have received similar letter in the past. What you have to do is to send both parts of DS-230 (Part I - signed by the applicant & Part II - unsigned). In brief, the Part I (BIOGRAPHIC DATA) needs to be signed by the applicant (beneficiary) and sent along with unsigned Part II. After the case is complete & submitted to US Consulate, the Part II (SWORN STATEMENT) will be signed during the interview by the applicant (beneficiary). Ensure that you have all the supporting documents as well. If not, you will receive checklist for missing documents. Good luck!
