Hi VJ,

been following this forum. My wife plan to file I-130 sometime in mid-June and want to get thing ready. I saw a few had cover letter along with I-130. Does anyone willing to share sample cover letter? I can't find in "Example Forms."

Separate I-130 in one envelope

Mom:

  • cover letter ???
  • I-130
  • I-130 fee
  • G-1145
  • mom birth certificate (copy)
  • petitioner birth certificate (copy)
  • petitioner married license (copy)
  • petitioner US Citizen Certificate (copy front & back)

I guess mom don't need married license only dad, right?

Dad:

  • cover letter ???
  • I-130
  • I-130 fee
  • G-1145
  • dad birth certificate (copy)
  • dad married license (copy)
  • petitioner birth certificate (copy)
  • petitioner married license (copy)
  • petitioner US Citizen Certificate (copy front & back)

Am I missing anything?

I would like to mail next day delivery, is this the address to mail based on Pennsylvania (PA) resident?

USCIS

Attn: I-130

131 South Dearborn-3rd Fl

Chicago, IL 60603-5517

thx all.

First of all, you do not need to send two (2) Express mail packages. You can send two (2) petitions in one express mailing package to save you some bucks.

Secondly, you need the followings to petition your parents:

Mother:

  • Cover Letter
  • I-130 Petition
  • Copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother's name
  • Copy of your Naturalization Certificate (front is ok), or Copy of your Unexpired U.S. passport
  • $420 Payment (Check or Money Order payable to U.S. Dept of Homeland Security)
  • G-1145 (Optional, if you like electronic notification of Case status)

Father:

  • Cover Letter
  • I-130 Petition
  • Copy of your birth certificate showing the names of your parents
  • Copy of your Naturalization Certificate (front is ok), or Copy of your Unexpired U.S. Passport
  • Copy of your parents'marriage certificate establishing that your father was married to your mother before you were born
  • If either your mom or father got married the second time, Copies of documents showing that any prior marriages of either your father or mother were legally terminated.
  • $420 Payment (Check or Money Order Payable to U.S. Dept of Homeland Security)
  • G-1145 (This is optional like I mentioned above).

Yes, the address is correct since you live in PA.

Your wife is planning on petitioning her parents? I'm doing the same thing, i don't remember doing a G-1145, but i guess that's good getting electronic notification. I don't think you need a cover letter for the I-130. My memory is not that good once i complete something i totally forget. I just sent in my:

-I-864 AOS

-I864A

-3 years tax returns

-6 months pay stub

-Letter of Employment

-Cover sheet

-Paid the $88 fee

-Emailed NVC DS-3032

each parents have a different set. Happy New Year bro.....

Incorrect...You just jumped too quick to the next level. He has to start with the USCIS first before moving forward to the NVC level (If I-130 petitions are first approved by the USCIS).

I have one other question for you guys, I'm doing everything in advance so my parents both filled out the DS-230 in advanced. What else do i need for submission once they approve my AOS? According to the forums they will need the following documents:

1)original birth certificate-NSO issued for each of my parents

2)original marriage certificate-NSO issued (2 originals)

3)copy of passport biographic page - that has name, dob & place of birth for each of my parents

4)two passport photos - 2x2 colored for each of my parents

5)original police clearance/certificate

6)NBI clearance

Is this depending on country? Because Cambodia was a war torn country and Original birth certificate issued for each parents might be hard to come by. How many original copies/translated copies need? If anybody had any experience with Cambodia please let me know so i can ask them to gather all the the documents ahead of time. Thanks in advance!

This comes way later in the process. Once you submit your I-130 you wait for a letter they send you saying they have approved the application, then they send you another letter from NVC asking you to pay for AOS. Then you have to fill out the affidavit of suuport with all the doc's they ask for. Read Rea's timeline on page 2 or 3.

Thanks jc_colin.

Below is from I-129F but I just change the wording. Is it Ok to use below cover letter?

Khmerguy,

You can use this cover letter and it's good. Cover letter is always necessary and it does make things easy for the Immigration Officer to know what has been submitted with the petition.
