It'll be interesting to see how Muslims react to this, & compare & contrast with the French ban.

Muslims in Tunisia have been dealing with this since the ban was enacted in the 80's

This muslim has no plans to visit such a backwards country.

The article of clothing represents a belief system that is just as insidious and harmful as slavery.

How would you like it if nudists took over the white house and started passing laws banning you from wearing clothes? Or your wife? Your mother perhaps? Would you like to see mom forced to go out nude??

What about the women who WANT to wear it?

Why would they want to wear it, if not to conform to some warped system of beliefs,

most likely created by men?

Why does it matter to you why they want to wear it??? Since when do you or any one else have reign over soemone elses beliefs or opinions????

Because I am the Master of the Universe. I say "jump" and you say "how hi-jab".

Sorry I chose to wear a scarf not because of anything anyone told me to do but my own beliefs. (might be interesting to note that in judaism and christianity women are advised to cover as well. No one gets worked up if an orthodox jewish woman wears a scarf...)

Does this law also ban people from wearing crucifixes or symbols of other religious belief or is it targeted just as Muslims? Either way, I think it's unfair and pointless and that a government shouldn't try and regulate whether or not a person's hair is covered in public. Imo forbidding someone from covering their head is as bad as forcing them to cover.

Also -- didn't the Shah of Iran also forbid this back before he was ousted?
