I visited my fiance in the Philippines on February 28th, 2010. Homeland Security took so long to send the approval to me. Received and set up interview for July 30,2012. My co-sponsor dropped out on me, and I will not be able to show that I am making enough. Can I postpone the interview for 2 or 3 months. Happy for any help I can get for an answer. My lawyer was useless, said to wait till they ask me for something.

2 1/2 years made enough money, then the last 3 months entered my independent contractors slow season. Help please?

yes you can postpone, but I agree with the lawyer-

1. If you made enough on your 2011 tax return line 22, they will likely approve.

2. If they do not, they won;t deny outside, but wil give you sometime to find a co-sponsor.

Hello Penguin. Thanks for your reply. I made 17,854.00 in 2011 and live in the 48 states. I read many different answers. Is this enough?

We have waited for 2 1/2 years. Would like to finally hear good news.

Hi Penguine. Very happy for you. Thanks for your quick reply. There is some confusion as to the chart to use for K-1. Is it poverty guidelines or 125% that I should be looking at? I have 2 people telling me different things. If it is poverty guidelines I make it. If it is 125% of poverty, I am a few hundred dollars short.

2012 PG is quite clear, For all sponsors on active duty 100% For all other sponsors 125%

So for a household size of two ‘if that’s all’ $18.912 lower 48

Technically, you need 100% for the K1 and 125% for AOS after marriage, but most embassies want to see 125% for the K1.
