Hello everyone

I am a citizen and I am filing for my wife, I am in step to send the affidavit of support paper.

here is my situation, i filed around $20 550 for 2011 tax, $15 000 for each 2010 and 2009

-Do I need to send JUST my paper or BETTER I send joint sponsor paper (my boss) too?

- Does it help to put in assets section a good amount of money in checking accounts ( around $10 000) (do I need to send a bank statement)

I really need your help, please to share with me your knowledge and your experience

1. Make sure your income and/or asset/s meet the requirements.

2. If not, provide a co-sponsor who's income/assets meet those requirements.

3. Check the applicable (your consulate) for related information.

4. Anything you list on the form I-134 such as, but not limited to Income, Assets, Recurring Debt, Savings and et cetera, requires evident paper trail (bank and investment statements, letter of employment, pay stubs, tax forms/transcripts, appraisals of non-liquid assets).

Are you self employed, or a wage/salary earner? If wage/salary then you need to show current and continuing annualized income that meets the requirement.

From other answers on forum it seems like being above the poverty line is not a guaranteed ok but just a requirement, it's still up to the person reviewing your case.

Savings can help, but only 1/3rd gets counted (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong). In any case I don't think a joint sponsor can hurt.

Thank you guys for your help

I did check the poverty guideline it's says $15,130 and I am above 1,25x$15,130=$18,912

I filed for $20,550 , I know I am too close. Do you think it's better to add joint sponsor?

What are you making now, 2012? The same or better than 2011? It's current income, not past taxes that are important (unless you are self employed).
