Im a US citizen. My wife & I are currently living in India. She has an Australian PR, and wants to work in Australia while we wait for her I-130 to get processed. During that time, she may have the option to apply for Australian citizenship in a years time. We plan to apply for the I-130 soon as we arrive.

Questions:

1) Is it OK to take up Australian citizenship while the I-130 is in process? Does it affect the application?

2) Before we head for Australia, we wanted to ensure that we gather all the documents we may need when we file from Australia. Which documents should I obtain before we head out to Australia? The ones I am aware of are:

a) A PCC. We are getting a PCC from 2001 till present (She lived 4 years in Australia, but was visiting her parents time to time)

b) A PSK PCC (She has a "PCC for Australia" stamp in her old passport, but we reapplied just to be on the safe side)

Are there any other documents that I should gather in India before we head on to Australia?

Thanks...

For the benefit of the audience, I'll elaborate:

PCC = Police Clearance certificate (Applied for from the office of The Commissioner of Police, Bangalore)

PSK PCC = Passport clearance (Also referred to as Police Clearance Certificate, but issued by the Passport Office aka PSK in Bangalore)
