question on obtaining a B2 visa

hello my dear friends from VJ.. i have a questions.. my grandfather entered the united states on december 2001 with a permanent resident card.. he was traveling back and forth from honduras to miami, fl... he usually would spend more time in honduras.. in 2009 he decided not to travel no more and stayed in honduras up until this day.. His permanent resident card expired on dec 2011 already... right now he is applying for a visitors visa B2.. my question is.. Is there a chance for a denial of a visa to the US if he was already a US resident... please help me.. since he already has an interview a month from now.. and i want to help him so he can go visit his grandsons which he has never met.. he only wants to go visit and come back .. since he has a house in honduras.. also has bank accounts with lots of money here.. will that be of help?? please let me know how i can help him .. thank you!!!

Of course there is a chance of denial. Nothing about coming to the US is a guarentee

The bank account will help but what other ties does he have to Honduras?
