Look at the DirecTo website (http://directo.com/) and see if there's anything there that fits your needs. My fiancé pays like $39.95 a month and with that, he can call me on my cellphone unlimited. DirecTo is connected to PLDT here in the Philippines. They'll give the Philippine resident a US number so you won't have to call long distance. They'll also give your fiancée/fiancé overseas a new cellphone unit. For us, it was totally worth it as we spend hours on that phone. Hope this helps!

"You donÂ’t get to choose, you just fall in love. And you get this person who is all wrong and all right at the same time. And you know that you love them so much except sometimes they just drive you completely insane and no one can explain it and the reason its so confusing is because its love. But if love didnÂ’t have any challenges, what would be the point?"

I am looking at the Globe plans but confused. She is spending 15 peso for loads. As we work as a couple on her k1 visa we need to talk more and my family is texting here more. So looking for a plan to make it easier

If you are still unsure of buying her a postpaid plan she can still use this INTERNATIONAL PROMO from globe prepaid. I been using this for over a year now.

if she wants to call you directly in your US telephone/homephone tell her to used this code

dial 12800 + country code + area code + phone number.

To call an international cellphone number, users dial 12800 + cellphone number.

if she wants to text international more than 50-100 and more texts per day she may able to subscribe international txt promo

Now, you can send 100 text messages to your contacts in the Philippines and abroad for only P30/day!

With ITXTALL30, you get to enjoy:

  • • The convenience of knowing that you can easily connect with your loved ones in 54 destinations worldwide
  • • Texting the way you want it—you can send messages to either local and/or international networks
  • • The lowest effective SMS rate today at P0.30 per text, whether it's a local or international number

Exclusive to all Globe Prepaid subscribers not on Roaming, ITXTALL30 requires no maintaining balance in using the service or additional prefixes when sending local and international texts.

To avail of ITXTALL30:

  • • Text ITXTALL30 and send to 8888.
  • • Dial *143# and press Call.

Promo runs until June 30, 2012. Per DTI-NCR permit no. 2640, Series of 2012.

Hope this help. I know for sure she can save some bucks when using this PROMO.

if you are needing to call her more and more, you can use a service like REBTEL (that's what we used). Also, I had my wife get me a roaming SIM and then she could text me for next to nothing. (I just had to have another phone to put the SIM in).

I want to buy my Fiancé a true cell phone package but unsure where to begin

When i was in the Philippines i use GLOBE TELECOM they have offer a monthly 800 pesos or 10$ a month.

it's like she going to convert her cell number from Philippines to US number, so you can call her anytime. They also have unlimited call for 1 day for just 150 pesos. any kind of phone will works, and if you plan to buy her a phone better from Philippines so you don't have to open line. I paid 1200 pesos to open line my phone sad.gif

We have a dual system in place, I have two roaming sim cards, a Globe and a Smart one, that I keep in a cheap cell phone. That way, she can text me for free to either of my roaming numbers and I get the text here in the states. My cell phone provider is MetroPCS, who has free international texting, so I reply to her from my normal phone.

Basically free both ways.

If you both have a Smart phone (i.e. Iphone etc), you can download an app called Viber. This is what we did. I took him my old Iphone when I upgraded. He jailbroke the phone, put his sim card inside and added a cheap data plan. He can also use WiFi on the phone. Viber allows you to text, send photos and call for free. The phone connection can be a little sketchy at times but it's completely free. Just a thought!

The "Philippine Way" is to buy load and many never load more than they can use in a day. One of the reasons is the Philippine networks have a lot of "load drains" and many times you pay for incoming messages. Over time, numbers get loaded onto spam lists and other things that drain load off a phone. If your fiancée has had the same number for any length of time he/she may be able to load 100 Php, set the phone down for 24 hours, then fins almost zero balance the next day. There are ways to clean this up, but it takes several hours on the phone with the Philippine equivalent of customer service. Anyway – the short answer is, don’t try and do things the “American Way” over there. Get rid of preconceived notions and look at your problems with fresh eyes. Best of luck.
