Embassy Review : Hi VJ friends,

I wanted to share my interview experience ias my own way of giving back to Visa Journey. Before my interview, I have been reading about reviews and topics of other members' interview experiences and I can't tell you enough how much that has helped me get ready for mine, know what to expect and everything else that goes with the interview. It is also here in VJ that I was able to meet new friends who happen to be on the same interview schedule as I am. It helps having friends there supporting you and relate to what you're going through.

Me and my friends were schedule at 7:30am but we were there by 6:30am. Around 6:45am, they already had us lined up in front for the security checks. You go through 2. The first one was the front security where they asked for the passport (they out it in a ziplock bag) and then your appointment letter or confirmation. The 2nd security check is when they put your things on the machine to check if you brought some items they restrict (phones, USB, cords etc). Once you are done with the security checks, you can now take your line to get your queue number.

By around 7:08am, I already have my queue number (mine was lucky 6159). They asked for the 2 copies of the DS forms. We were then asked to wait at the waiting area. Here, they flash numbers together with a corresponding window numbers so applicants know where to go. After 2 hours of waiting here, they asked all the uncalled numbers to go inside the building and wait there.

The first step for me was the finger scanning. I was called to window 42. The lady manning this window seemed nice but she really didn't say much. She just asked for my full name and birthday and then they started scanning my fingers and thumbs. After that, they ask us to sit down again and wait for our number to be on the screen again.

The next window was for the Filipino screener/interviewer. Unlike some reviews here, the interviewer I got was really friendly and seem interested in me and my fiance. She asked for the BPI payment receipt, my birth certificate, CENOMAR and NBI Clearance. She also asked for the Affidavit of Support, 1040 and 1099/w2s. She then proceeded and asked questions:

1. Who is your petitioner?
2. When is his birthday?
3. How and when did you guys meet?
4. How long have you been together?
5. How do you guys communicate with each other?
6. Where does he live?
7. Have you travelled to other countries before?
8. When did he come here to visit you?
9. When did he proposed?
10. Did you bring pictures of you together (she asked to look at my pictures and commented on some of them. She thinks it's cute we get on Skype and go on dates)
11. What else did you bring to prove relationship? (I showed her my Skype logs, phone records, chat records, emails and FaceTime logs as well)

She didn't take the pictures and the logs but she told me to have them ready just in case the consul asks. Slowly, applicants are called for the consul interview but lunch was fast approaching so they asked us to come back by 12:45.

When we came back for lunch, I waited for about an hour and a half before I was called for my consul interview. She was a nice lady and was really friendly too. I greeted her good afternoon and she did the same. I commented that the embassy was really busy that day and she said she knows and was laughing and said to me that she noticed I have been there since 7:30. I told her I didn't mind. My interview with her went a little longer compared to the others. Here are her questions:

1. What is the name of your fiancé?
2. How do you say his name again?
3. When did you first meet? (she commented here that I'm good with dates and I said maybe it came with my job she then asked..)
4. What do you for work? With what company?
5. When and how did you meet again?
6. Do you remember the restaurants you went to in Kansas City with him?
7. When did he come to visit you here?
8. What does he do?
9. What was his previous job before he got this job?
10. Can I check the website he works for!
11. Are you aware you have to marry him within 90 days of getting married?
12. What will happen to your job?
13. Do you have any existing visa for the United States?

I told her I do have a 10 year multiple entry that will expire on 2019. She then said the most wonderful words I would here that day. She said, I guess you won't be able to use your 10 year visa because I will be giving you a new one. She said if I mind if she voids my B1/B2 visa and I said please do. Hahaha she told me Congratulations, your visa is approved.

I went and sat for a few minutes before I got called to the 2go window. The guy on the window just told me to verify my address for the home delivery. He then congratulated me again and said that my visa was granted and to just wait for it to be delivered.

So there it is. It is indeed true that prayers move mountains. I was so nervous and the longer I waited the more stressed I got. I was out the embassy by 3pm. 9 hours of waiting, I really didn't mind. Good luck on your interviews VJers! Hoped you got a little something from my experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
