I keep coming across many inspiring stories and struggles of couples in the process of attaining a fiancés visa. Realizing an engagement is not as much of a binding agreement as is a marriage. That’s why I would like to hear the stories of the couples who have endured obstacles and continue to peruse the dream of one day being together. Many people would walk away from a relationship when faced with delimas or issues, what has kept the promise alive?

Ex. Waiting 2+ years for an approval, overcoming obstacles noted by the immigration department, perhaps something that the Immigration department frowns upon however you accept.

Not a K-1 process or procedure question. Moving to general immigration forums.

It is trying, that is for sure! Especially from where our loved ones are from! When my husband and I were separated for over a year I just tried to keep myself busy. I was working 2 full time jobs and going to school. I was strong because I didn't give myself time to think about it all. It also made the time go faster. If I had a free moment, the tears just didnt stop! He's been here for 8 months now. I am out of the home babysitting a half hour away and have not seen him in over a day and I'm all back to crying again! I really love that man so much! Inshallah I will go back home on monday! It's gonna feel like the day he arrived in US lol. THAT DAY WAS THE HAPPIEST OF MY LIFE!!. I really felt like I was dreaming! Sometimes I still do! We do have major issues, however. It is not easy for him to adjust, but through these big trials, I feel we get stronger! It's really worth all of this in the end! Hang in there!

It took us four YEARS from the day my husband proposed to me over the telephone until we were finally married. He attempted to file the paperwork for me immediately, but a very kind USCIS clerk mailed it back to him with the cheque uncashed - you can NOT get a visa until you have physically met in person and have photographic evidence to prove it. All the phone calls and emails and internet meetings in the world don't count in the USCIS's eyes. It was three years before we were able to meet that requirement. The day I arrived back in Australia he filed the paperwork again, and things proceeded smoothly, and relatively quickly aside from a few normal hitches. 12 years later, I'm a US citizen, and here we are happily approaching our 8th wedding anniversary.

Karen - Melbourne, Australia/John - Florida, USA

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)
