After all we've been through, he finally got his Thai police clearance certificate. I just have a few questions before sending him my documents for packet 3, just to double check with you ladies and gents.

1. Packet 3 instruction says passport, previous passport, birth cert/unobtainable birth cert, and name change certs are in photocopies, Ds-230, DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157 are in original. I'm okay with that. However application fee receipt, evidence of financial support (I-134, my letter of employment, and tax return), police certs are in original. I read somewhere that you only send in photocopies of these required documents and have the original at the interview? is it true? Should I just follow the instruction?

2. Financial support. For tax return, I just ordered my account transcript from IRS for 2011, is that enough? Should I send in my W2 form as well? I already have my employment letter, Do I need to send my recent pay stuff?

3. When my fiance goes to the post office to pay for the visa fee, would they know the amount? And what is he supposed to say exactly? I don't want them to get confused or have any problems.

And after sending in packet 3, how long do you think it's going to take for the embassy to set up the interview date? I know VJ says about 75 days but I want to hear from your experiences :) Thanks.

I would follow the instructions. There isnt anything wrong with sending in copies but I would include a note indicating he was bringing in the originals if thats what they ask for.

2011 tax transcript is enough. Recent pay stub would be good showing earnings to date.

Post office should know exactly what he needs for his K 1 fees. If there is any question have him use the post office across the street from the embassy. Its in a little soi behind the high rise directly across the street. He will walk thru the parking lot on the left side all the way to the back. Walk left down the soi a short distance to the small P O. They know exactly what to do.

I havent had a recent experiance but it shouldnt be 75 days. BKK sees about 700 cases per month. I think they still only do K types on Mon & Thur. This limits the time they have to deal with the volume of cases. You can find a schedual of cases on the embassy web site. You will see cases shown for at least one month. Your case may never appear because they dont update it too often. What you see may help you understand how busy they are. They are never slow. This time of year they have tons of student visas but those are done on Tues as far as I know. Still it takes time away from what you need done. I think about 60 days is what it will take.

Hi and Excuse me for my dubble replyes here.

I'm at the same stage as you, hoping to yet my police clearance form today! So I can send package 3. I'm doing the CR1 visa and the fees should be payed at the interview, don't know how it is for K1. Follow all the instructions and you will be fine! I'm also hoping to get my interview very fast but unfortunately they have certain days dedicated for different visas.

Good Luck!
