If I overstayed in Canada can I get in trouble by going with hubby to US embassy for interview?

Actually I never thought of fax (why I have no idea) I will make sure a lease is done up for me ASAP tomorrow and have it sent over so I can get it and bring it on Monday - that should be good enough I think :) Now the lease for my MN address will my new lease be ok (the one starting in July) or will I need to show previous as well? Thanks for any input :)

Oh also - does it matter that where I live is with my mother? (Its the same address where my husband will be living too which was put on paperwork) do they look at leases from relatives or joint sponsors as hogwash (for lack of a better word)

Mine was with my mother, so that won't matter. No need for a previous lease. I personally thought it was silly to sign a lease with my mother, but oh well, they asked and they received it.

OK I will have my mom do up the lease for starting July 1st then :)

Thank you so much!!!! I think I am just too stressed to think straight lately which is why I couldn't think of a fax machine for some reason LOL

YOu have lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders :)

Hope it helps, i sent in a bunch of stuff after the interview, but it should help. I got a lease online that was fairly long, but looks like a normal lease and just used that. Hope its enough for you because waiting after sending in the more stuff after the interview was probably the most stressful of it all.

Well after running around everywhere around us I FINALLY found a place to print out the lease (my mom just signed it and scanned it back to me) so now finally I feel all prepared for hubbys interview tomorrow :)

Good luck at the interview :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Well domicile was no issue thankfully. But my husband does need a waiver for other issues (stupid criminal issues from 11 YEARS ago, summary offences no less). But otherwise the interview went well, all paperwork was in order and looked good he said (he was surprised that I had put it all together myself and not with a lawyers help).

Well it was 50/50 chance so at least you were not surprised right?

Glad everything else went as planned, did y'all turn your waiver in already? (Sorry can't remember if you had it ready just in case). Was your interviewer pleasant to you both? Bet you're happy the interview is out of the way right?

congrats! Hope the waiver process is faster than some of the others that I have read about on here.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We didn't turn in the waiver at the interview (we don't have close to the $585 needed) but the interviewer was very nice to us, I held back my tears the best I could and I could tell he felt really bad for me. But we shoudl be able to get it figure out :)
