I've went through a "practice run" or two of completing all the forms for the NVC stage, but on one form, the DS-230, there is an expiration date (in the top right-hand corner) that changes on a month to month basis. Whatever month you are completing this form, it has an expiration date of the last day of that month printed on the form. In the bottom left-hand corner under DS-230 Part I, it has an expiration date of 03/2012.

Does this form expire on a monthly basis? Or do they just update it every couple of years? (On prior "practice forms" have an expiration date of 02/2010!)

Look, I'm really just a simple girl who wants to get the forms completed and sent to my husband so he can sign them and get them back to me in a timely manner so that when our NOA2 arrives and everything is forwarded to the NVC, I am ready with all the informatoin they need for the packets...signed, sealed and ready to deliver! Does there to be a hiccup in every step along the way???

For those of us petitioning our mates from Nigeria and other parts of the world that do not accept electronic deliveries of forms, such as thd DS-3032, we cannot have our beneficiaries send their documents in via email. The NVC has to have the real deal in hard copy. That's understandable because of the high fraud rate of some countries. But at the same time, if this form does expire monthly, it could mean major delays for us to get all the paperwork in to the NVC, and prayerfully, before the darned form expires and we have to start all over again.

So from what I am reading, the expiration date in the top right hand corner is just an interoffice thing. The expiration at the bottom of the form is what matters, and even though it is expired, it is still the most current so I can use that form to send to my husband to sign and send back so I will be ready.

Great! That has answered the question once and for all. Now I just need to send them to my husband (which will take about a month to turn around and send back to me). Thank you for the clarification! I feel much more at ease!

Cut your turn around time shorter by emailing the blank form to him. He would print it (about 4 or 5 in case of errors), and sign them all on Part 1. Then he can send back to you. Depending on which one of you is filling out the information, it would have to be handwritten, but it will be a lot shorter time frame.

You're welcome! ^_^

This is what I always recommend! good.gif

Thanks Ladies,

My handwritting is still pretty good. Better yet, he can pull the forms up and print the blank ones. No need to email. Then all he has to do is mail them to me signed.

I've asked this question in another forum, "why does it say the NVC will send you the forms" after you pay? I've planned on having them ready in advance the entire time.

I've got my tax transcripts and the Affidavit of Support signed and ready to go. All I have to do is date the form. Is there going to be a problem with that once the forms are "called for"? I would have the online receipt and evidently a barcoded sheet to go with it. Correct?

It's actually better if you're proactive at NVC and don't wait on them to send you forms. So you're doing the right thing by preparing ahead of time. No problem by having things ready ahead of time and just waiting until you can send them. This is how most VJers do it ;)
