Hi,

I had my visa interview conducted on 11 June 2012 at new delhi embassy where I had been asked to provide further evidence as proof of my relationship with my fiancee although I have submitted every bit of documents like emails from last 1 year, cards, telephone records to them but CO seems less interested in all those documents.

CO had given me form 221(G) which states different document to submit along with my Passport at VFS office at earliest. One of the specific document requested by consular office is my Voter ID along with my name in Voter list from last 5 year's.

I have all other documents except my Voter ID as I never applied for it. I have my Indian DL, bank statements, PAN card except Voter ID. I am now going to apply for Voter ID but it will take atleast 15-20 days to get it. Please advise if it is alright to submit Voter ID only without records of my name in voter's list from last 5 years since I simply do not have it!

JUst to clarify: they asked for voter ID from the Indian beneficiary, not the petitioner? Sounds like they don;t believe you lived where you say you did. Do you have any other proof to show you resided where you stated on the forms (lease, bills etc)? Any red flags in your case, reasons why they may ask this? Such as did you claim to live with the petitioner, or are you recently divorced, or were petitioned before?

Well VSJ, you got the "laundry list" 221g out of Delhi. The CO is on the fence with your case. I'd bet you have some red flags [she's older, someone was divorced, there are kids from a previous relationship, or something is suspicious about the "arrangement" in your arranged marriage...].

Get everything you can. There is no way for you to get the lists if you didn't vote or weren't registered. Simple as that. So, don't worry yourself over it but mention that in your cover letter when you bundle up the evidence to take to VFS.

Historically, I've seen cases approved after the "laundry list" about 30-40% of the time. Not the best percentages, but some definitely get through after submitting all of this info. Just in case, start working on back-up plans with your fiancee.

Also, don't be surprised if it takes weeks for them to get back to you.

Chin up - hopefully all will go well after this speed bump!

Thanks Penguin!! Yes they asked Voter ID from me(benefeciary). Not sure about the reason as why they asked! I never married before and never petioned before but yes I claimed that I will live with petioner (my fiancee). I will take your advise and iclude all such documents which confirms my residential address like - Electricity bills, bank statements. I will apply for voter ID and hope to get it soon.

Many thanks for your advise.

Thanks Catknit for replying to my post. Not sure which redflags CO had seen in my case as me and my fiancee are of same age and never been married before & ours is K1 Fiancee visa. I have also emailed & informed VFS regarding un-availability of my Voter ID card and waiting for their reply.

In hope to hear from them soon.

Thanks again!

Getting this 221g isn't the end of the world - it's just that the CO wants to see the whole picture.

VFS's emailing responses are some times super slow.

It's good that you don't have some of the typical "red flags" - that should be in your favor. But, an alarm went off with the CO, so you aren't out of the woods, yet.
