Hello everyone,

We applied for AOS/EAD/AP in November. We received the combo EAD/AP, but the AOS got transferred to California and we're still waiting.

Next week I will visit my parents and I'll use my AP card, so I just wanted to know how it works and if I have to do anything particular before departure? My trip will be a short one, 12 days.

Will I have to give the I-94 at the airport when I leave or I have to keep it?

Thanks everybody! :)

If the EAD/AP card is in your married name and your passport is in your maiden name, make sure to bring the marriage certificate with you. Bring the EAD/AP card with you, as its what will allow you to enter the USA again.

Your I-94 from your K-1 no longer matters. It expired 90 days after entry in any case. Only use it had after was sending in copies for the AOS.

I asked CBP and they told me to keep the I-94 in case it was needed for inspection for an AOS interview. I would take it out of your passport now; it really goes with your AOS application. You need nothing else (I am guessing you are the Italian, going by your name, Guilio, so name change doesn't apply). When you come back you will go into secondary and they will give you a new i-94 with an AP stamp on it.

Thanks for your replies!

Harpa: if i take the I-94 out of my passport, won't I be asked for it when I leave from here? For the name change, you're right. It was my wife getting my name so my docs are all still the same!

No, you are never asked for I-94 when you leave. You already asked for a change of status, so in effect, your I-94 is finished anyway.
