colombian citizens help

okay so i have my niece in colombia and she has an interview coming up soon for her visa.

problem that i have heard from people is in order for her to travel outside of colombia i need the signature of both parents. my brother in law left when she wasnt even born yet so how in hell are we to get his signature when he wants nothing to do with her.i reached out to him and he said no because he doesnt care and has no interest in her coming to usa.

my question. can she travel with just documentation from her mother. whom has custody of her. her grandparents took her to brazil and agrentina with no problem so i cannot understand why its a problem for me to bring her here for 2 weeks. :help::help::help:

si puedo traer mi sobrina sin la firma del padre. el no esta en su vida y no quiere sabe nada de ella. quiero traerla a vistar ee uu este verano por 14 dias no mas.

and apparently you were 'dropped off' using a tourist visa when you were a child...so the Vo will likely believe that the same strategy will be used to improve the niece's life....and yes, the VOs will figure it out. :whistle:

I am an American citizen! Born n raised so I was not dropped off! Her mother is not coming! She's in school in Colombia and has things tht she's involved in! I do not understand why u assume she would stay because that is not the intention at all!

and your spouse? Your timeline suggests that somebody from Colombia was 'forgotten' by their parent? Why not your niece? Just because you say it won't happen is not sufficient. There is no promise you can make to the contrary that is legally enforceable....period. :wacko:

and the reason is this: this scenario has been repeated numerous time from Colombia...and as a result, the VOs will be super cautious about doling out a visa to an unaccompanied child.

My Niece will be traveling with me! I will be presenta at her interview! I will be bringing her back! She cannot stay as I am moving to Colombia in August!

My in laws have visa! N my husband didn't want to leave us do he went to stay with an aunt! My in laws have been visa holders for over 20 years! So if that's the case then how come they are able to keep renewing their visas?!

Okay, just go for the interview and take your chances, it's a 50/50 chance. Good luck. Regarding your question about permission from a missing parent, what does the application request reguarding minor children. Follow the process.

so your spouse, the Colombian citizen (I presume) 'forgot' to return...how does that fact add equity to this situation? You appear to be directly involved with the very situtation I described.

colombia has been famous for finding ways to move unaccompanied children to the US to live with other relatives (or their parents who might have been in the US without permission)...do not expect this interview to be some sort of slam dunk approval. If the child's mother does not have a US visa, then neither will the child. Minor children qualify, as it were, through their parents, not through other third parties, no matter how much taxes you have paid, for whom you voted, what college you attended, what sort of house you live in or who in the political world you think you know. :bonk:

Great this is all I wanna know! The visa part isn't a big deal because I have a lawyer doing all this and I have been to the embassy and asked a million questions and they told me what I needed and had to prove! Also spoke to the Colombian embassy in NYC and DC and they both said its possible for her to get the visa

So what is to prevent your niece from wandering off to live with that aunt? happened once....why not again?
