Fiancee is due to arrive very soon; Im looking at flights and have a question. The flight im looking at is from Lima to Ft. Lauderdale and connecting to Chicago. Question will Ft. Lauderdale be where USCIS will process her, or the final destination; Chicago? the layover is only one hour. Chicago does have a USCIS processing center at O'Hare

She will most definitely be processed in Ft. Lauderdale..... One hour is not giving her much time to be processed and catching the next flight to Chicago....

It is the first airport, sea port, or land crossing that she sets foot on US soil (there are a few places where this is done at the origin airport in the foreign country, but those are rare). So it will be Ft. Lauderdale. I would do one of three things 1) change her flight so she arrives at O'hare directly, 2) find a much later flight from Ft. Lauderdale to O'hare--I would give it at least two hours to clear customs and immigration and get the bags, or 3) fly down to Ft. Lauderdale, spend a couple of days there and then the two of you fly on the O'hare. I was lucky enough to have a direct flight from either Frankfurt or Heathrow to Denver for my fiancee to take. The Heathrow option was about $1600 and had a 2 hour layover and the Frankfurt option was about $1400 and had a 7.5 layover. It came down to which the fiancee was more comfortable with. She had been to Frankfurt before so was familar with the airport.

Good luck,

Dave
