Hi, we're going through the K-1 visa process now and looking ahead at the AOS process. My fiancé is a freelance web designer and intends to continue working as such when he moves here. I know there's usually a wait for a work permit, but how does that work if he's working for himself? thanks.

Register a LLC, contract with USA customers through the LLC, receive payment via LLC business account. For non-USA customers, or USA customers willing to pay cash, it does not matter how you receive payment.

He can't work - even for himself - without being work authorized.

He applies for an EAD like everyone else and once it is approved he can continue freelancing.
