Panalo si Jessica. Well something like that. She will win and become a star here I hope. Since she is not half white, she can not be an ABS-CBN star. Even Manny thinks she should win.

Sucks! Jessica blew away Phil last night, and Tuesday night. Too many racists in America to let the better performer win. But, Jessica still has a promising career if she wants it, and Phil has the trophy to console himself as he fades into oblivion over the next year.

I wanted Jessica to win and I think she should have but I also really liked the other guy's singing. I'm kinda surprised he won though - it didn't seem like the American Idol audience would be his demographic. I think Steven Tyler was pretty surprised as well. It was clear he thought it should have been Jessica...she really should have won.

Why didn't you think he would win? He's another White Guy With Guitar like the previous 4 winners. Its what the program's fans want and have wanted to five season now.

I don't really watch the show and only watched eps this season because of Jessica. That is probably why I misjudged how the finale would play out. It just seemed to me that he was a bit too alternative and not enough pop, which I believe is the genre the show is geared to. The only winners that I know are the lady from the first season, the guy who is confident in his sexuality and the poor lady who was just testified in court for the horrific murder of her family. Aren't they all pop singers? Would you classify the guy who won as a pop singer? That is why I thought Jessica would win. I am disappointed that she didn't.

That other guy though who covered the Sam Cooke song earlier in the season was AMAZING also. Those two should have been in the final.

The result was not a surprise for me. Jessica is very good. Her genre music is not just most voters prefer, IMO. Like me, I prefer Philip's over hers but had she won, I would be overwhelmed. It would have been a nice gesture of her to thank the judges for saving her, but she didnt, she forgot maybe bec of mixed emotions.

Poor Phil has been going through kidney surgery, and is expected to have one more final procedure before the Idol Tour. Even though we thought Jessica should have won, we wish Phil a full and speedy recovery, and all the best, despite our earlier comment, which was made in jest.

And didn't Jessica get voted back into the competition due to the judges rather than the audience anyway? Clearly, the judges thought she should have a chance, but it seems that the American audience had made its minds up before she got this far.

It appeared to me to be highly staged in order to boost ratings and votes. The next week they had record votes, so it appears to have gotten what fans have hung around more active. As to improving ratings, they're dropping fast for American Idol. Its hard to guess how many seasons they have left. Jessica is getting an album produced, she's doing fine without winning the title. If someone writes some good songs for her, she could easily have a decent career with her talent. But if all she does is sing other people's songs, she won't be around too long.
