We just got NOA2 on May 14 and waiting for the NVC to receive the package. Around when are they going to ask for Police certificate?

Also, Police Certificate from Nigeria expires after 3 months. The one I got on March 15th is going to expire on June 15. Do you think I can still use it after June 15?

12/16/2011 : I-130 Sent to USCIS

12/21/2011 : I-130 NOA1

05/14/2012 : I-130 NOA2

06/04/2012 : Received at NVC

06/13/2012 : Case number issued by NVC

06/13/2012 : DS-3032 Choice of Agent Email Sent to NVC

06/15/2012 : AOS Bill Issued

06/15/2012 : AOS Bill Paid

06/16/2012 :I-864 AOS package mailed to NVC

06/18/2012 :AOS Payment status: PAID

06/21/2012 - I-864 AOS package received by NVC

06/20/2012 - DS-3032 accepted

06/21/2012 - IV bill invoiced & paid in PROCESS

06/22/12 - IV bill shows PAID

06/21/12 - Mailed IV packet to NVC

06/25/12 - IV packet received @ NVC

06/28/2012- AOS packet Reviewed & Accepted

7/18/2012 - Case Complete at NVC

We just got NOA2 on May 14 and waiting for the NVC to receive the package. Around when are they going to ask for Police certificate?

The police certificate will be submitted with other civil documents that accompany the DS-230. The DS-230 and accompanying documentation can be sent to the NVC as soon as the payment portal for the IV bill shows PAID. This bill will not be invoiced until after a case number has been assigned.

Also, Police Certificate from Nigeria expires after 3 months. The one I got on March 15th is going to expire on June 15. Do you think I can still use it after June 15?

An expired police certificate is unlikely to be accepted by the NVC. If the NVC by some chance were to accept it, then the Embassy would most likely require an updated one.

July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

WIth all the headache so many go through with the Nigerian Consulate, I would not chance anything being expired. From what my husband says, getting a new Police Certificate is not a costly or timely expendature. I would have my spouse get a new one to forward to the NVC and prayerfully you will have a quick interview and not need to get an additional one before a visa is issued. Nigerian police certificates expire in 3 months. Remember to send all of your original documents to the NVC and keep two copies of what you forwarded. One for yourself and one to send to your spouse.
