Hello everyone i came into the United States illegaly when i was 6 years old from Honduras. My mother married my father (hes actually a born usc and hes my stepfather) in 2001 and had my brother the same year. He filed the i-130 petitions for us which were approved right away. We met the april 30,2001 dead line. Me and my mother both had tps back then, so that was the reason they didnt proceed with the aos (i know what were they thinking) i lost my tps about a year after i had it because my parents were in a bad financial situation and couldnt pay my filing fees. In the year 2004 my father got into drugs and chose bad friendships and he ended up in jail for attempted murder for which he is currently serving an 11 years to life sentense. Up until now i didnt even know we couldve done something about my approved i-130, so i was excited to know that i wouldnt have to be undocumented for much longer. We hired an attorney in march and from what i know everything is done my father has signed and sent all the paperwork,my aunt will be my cosponsor, all the letters throughout the years are already in place,my school records to show i was here december 2000 and have my fathers name,my medical is done. But last week my lawyers assistant called me asking to send in all the above mentioned ,i had just given all that to my lawyer the previous week! So he said my lawyer would call me back. I havent heard back from them so is it safe to assume everything is ok? I dont want to call and be a pain. Im hoping perhaps they sent everythig without telling me? Will notifications from uscis come to my adress or the lawyers? Does it ususally take this long to send in the packet? Also i know my lawyer said that the fact that my father is in prison can be explained sinse he will be in prison for a lot of years. but im just curious to know can i be denied because of that? And will the fact that i was out of status for so long affect me? Also i was arrested for grand theft and sent to juvenile hall for 4 months when i was 12 years old, and ive had about 4 tickets for driving without a license as an adult. Im 22 unmarried. My mother will be doing hers next month . Thank you all i appreciate it.

You are paying for a service, so yes, you MUST call. You shouldn't care if they think you're a difficult customer; they must provide proper service. If you gave them the paperwork and they lost it, look for another lawyer.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.
