Hello there,

I am a 19 year old 1st year Engineering student studying in Switzerland since September 2011 that holds a Spanish passport (from Spain).

I will be travelling to the States to visit my cousin in Florida this summer for 5 weeks.

I'm already registered for ESTA. I've been admitted to the US with this programme before.

I'm starting to get paranoid because this time I will be travelling alone. I'm frightened that the agents will think I'll be overstaying the 90 days or looking for work or something (which I am not)...

I plan on taking about 1500 USD with me in cash plus Spanish and Swiss credit cards. I also don't plan on checking in luggage, such a hassle. I'm assuming light summer clothing appropriate for Florida in August will be able to fit in a carry-on.

I understand how all these parameters might look to an Immigration Agent so I want to be prepared.

Do I need to bring any additional documents verifying my ties with my home country (Spain) and/or the country that I live in (Switzerland) such as University or Bank Statements? If so, what would you recommend I should take with me exactly?

Any help will be much appreciated!

Thank you

Most likely you would not have any issue with immigration officals (I can only assume cannot make that call..:)) but having a checked in bag is not a problem and yes you should have some kinda documentation to show you have strong ties back home, like letter from your school, current bank statement and anything else like appartment lease or letter from appartment you have and existing contract with them etc. to show you have strong ties back home.

I also heard that airlines report international travellers who dont check bags to customs........in lots of cases they are drug runners making a drop :-)
