Interview was back in late October; told all ok except for background check. Concerned because EAD never went throught the first time and was issued after 90 days with infopass. Biometrics and prints were done under old LIN # back in June. Was I suppossed to have fingerprints done again for the AOS??

Biometrics are good for 15 months so no, I don't think you were necessarily supposed to have your prints done again for the AOS. (Unless your June biometrics was only for the EAD? When we did it -- which was a while ago, in 2002 -- EAD was a single thumbprint, but AOS was all ten fingers.)

In general I think people should make INFOPASS appointments every 3-4 months until their background checks clear and they receive GC approval. Just to remind USCIS you exist. Don't be worried -- it's not unusual for a background check to take longer than 3 months. Unfortunately there's not much you can do to speed things along, and the check takes "as long as it takes". All you can do is check in with your local DO every few months to make sure it's not back and just sitting on someone's desk.

P.S. Just to give you an idea of how long it could take:

From following background check cases on this and other forums, it seems that most people's clears within 3 months of the interview. But, a lot do not. My husband's took close to a year -- 11.5 months. I have seen a handful of cases take 17 months, 21 months, and one that was over 3 years and still going. Hopefully yours is with the majority and will clear sooner rather than later.

Carina (K-2) had her interview October 25, 2005 in Chicago as well...no word yet on the background check either and that is what we were told she needed for approval. We just received her 2nd AP last week.

Thanks to all for the guidance and support and speedy processing to all!
