You are there not to discuss religious matters, USCIS officers are not there to make you go to church or believe in anyone. JDH, he is just a person, people say what they believe without any reasons. You don't have to agree with him on God or Buddha, just ignore it if you wish.

What? That is so weird :)

Ours didn't, so I guess there are differing experiences.

Congrats on the approval.

Haha...it was funny, I was purposefully listening for it because of this thread.

It surprised me because from what I had read they don't typically include that.

Thanks for the congrats! :D

Personally, I don't want to rock the boat in a situation where we are at the interviewer's mercy. I do, however, think it's unfortunate that I feel that way. I shouldn't have to "ignore" it and pretend to be a believer when I'm not for fear of punishment. That's downright unamerican. ;) Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion.

That said, I'm not going to get on my soapbox in an immigration interview. And I'll do my best to keep my husband off his. At least if we know going in that the interviewer may throw in the god reference, we can have a plan ahead of time of how to respond. No surprises.

And I guess this is the wrong forum for religious type discussions, so I'll drop it now. I've got the information I needed. Thank you to everyone who answered.
