Jubin, the new consulate is located in an area where you'll find only corporates. There are no hotel's out there. If your wife is new to Mumbai, then I'd advice you to stay near VFS and opt for their cab service. That way, she'll be taken to and from the consulate and also can store her bag, etc, at the VFS locker facility.

We stayed at the Keys Hotel Nestor in Andheri, East which is about a 30 minute drive from the Consulate and about 1.5 miles from the airport. The staff are very nice and the cost is about Rs 3900 with a decent buffet breakfast included. It's very clean and the room is huge!

Good Luck!

Did they move VFS anywhere nearby US consulate(Bandra Kurla complex) from near Mahalaxmi temple? or is it still at near Mahalaxmi temple?

I'm also trying to find out above. VFS should move closer to US Consulate.

You can call or email to get the medical appointment but you need the Interview letter at the time of Medical. I only received the interview letter 2 days ago. Seems the beginning of this month when interview dates were assigned Interview letter emails didn't go out well. You have to call NVC and ask the operator to send a message to the supervisor to resend the interview letter. You should get it the next day.

I'd definitely recommend the Sofitel Mumbai BKC if you can afford it. It's a very short walking distance to the consulate and a relatively quick autorickshaw ride to Lilavati Hospital for the medicals. It's an Accor hotel so if you're a member of Le 'Club (formerly A Club) you can book with points. It was also available for us to pay for using american airlines miles. ;)

Thanks and Enjoy,

Erik

At VFS do you submit all documents at once or someone asks you for each document one by one.

For us they apparently went through and took the required forms and would have taken the medical results if we'd had them ready. They did not take the evidence of relationship or the i-134 and told my fiance to bring them with her to the interview.

Thanks and Enjoy,

Erik
