NVC responds to the email in most cases. Or you can call NVC to find out. Although, ultimately, you'll know the DS-3032 was accepted and added to the casefile once the IV bill is invoiced.

I got an e-mail from the NVC saying they received the principal applicant's DS 3032 and that the AOS fee has been paid.

Yeah. I'm going to go trough all my papers, cover page etc this weekend and try to get it in the mail Sunday or Monday. I've been thinking of sending it to my wife first, or will that just be an unnecessary delay?

I think she wants to get a look t my police records while she's got the chance. :hehe:

;)

If you send it before the IV bill is appearing as PAID, it's best to send it to your wife first. Then as soon as it shows PAID, she can mail it directly to NVC.

It the bill is already appearing as PAID when you mail the package out, it's best to just send it to NVC directly. In this case, just make a photocopy of the PCC to show your wife ;)

The real (major) reason why I've been thinking of sending the papers to her is because when we got married, we got two marriage certificates: one in Swedish and one in English. The grammar in the English one is horrible, but it is an official document issued by the local authorities. I honestly don't remember for sure if we sent a copy of the Swedish or English certificate to the USCIS for the I-130, but I think it was the Swedish one with a translation attached (written by myself).

Either way... The police records/military records should be the originals, I assume. Same with the form, DS-something-something (DS-230?). Same with the personbevis (which functions as a birth/marriage certificate). Should I also send the actual marriage certificate? If so, do I send a copy or the original?

Yes, all the certificates (birth, marriage, police) have to be originals or certified copies. You also need to include regular photocopies so your originals/certified copies can be returned to you at the time of the interview. And yes, the form definitely has to be the original. NVC will issue a checklist if your signature isn't the original. I'd say in your case, you should also send the actual marriage certificate to avoid any problems. And I suggest you explain the different documents in the cover letter, as well as writing it on a post-it note and attaching each note to the top of each certificate so the reviewing officer knows what's going on.

So both copies and originals eh? Just one copy? If I throw in two copies, is that overkill?

Thank you so much for your help Saylin. I hope I'm not driving you mad with all these silly questions. I really appreciate your help.

Just the original/certified copy and ONE photocopy. Two photocopies is overkill :P And it might confuse them wacko.gif

And absolutely no problem! You're not driving me mad whatsoever no0pb.gif There's a reason why I'm still on VJ: to help out others ;)
