Medical Exam Question

Ok Ladies, I have a question. So he went and got his Med exam the other day and on the letter from the Embassy the K-Visa section was checked and it said exactly this:

K Visa Applicant (Vaccination record recommended but not required)

The hospital he went to told him he didn't need to get vaccinations so they didn't do it. Is that true? Does he need to go back and get them?

They also gave him the medical exam results in a sealed envelope and the xrays in an open one. They instructed him *not* to take the xrays to the embassy. What exactly are they for then?

He can either get his vaccinations before or after he gets to the usa. As long as he has them before you do the AOS papers. Also the written report about the xray is what the embassy gets. Not the actual xrays. They just give the xray film to keep, so if he has another xray in some point in time they can compare it to that one. Just tell him to put them in his checked luggage and keep them if ever needed.

Hmmm I've been curious ever since our interview why they didn't take our xray. We carried that huge envelope around with us all day in Algiers waiting for our appointment!! And then again when we went back for our second interview.... because I thought they might have made a mistake by not taking it :D Interesting..

Dear Confused, It is cheaper to get the vaccinations there than to get them in the US for the AOS. That is what Mohammed's doctor in Jordan told him. It was only like $5 for a shot that would have been probably $100 here. Also, because we had the vacc supplement to submit with the AOS package, he did not need a medical here and it was not asked for at the interview.

If he can bring an english certified copy of his vaccination records, it will save him from getting stabbed here. Tamer didn't have any, so he got vaccinated by the county here, less than $10 per shot.

Or, if he's already been vaccinated, they can do a blood test to make sure that it's still all good. But, it was cheaper for us to just have him get revaccinated. the blood test cost over $100 I think.
