As I was sitting here thinking waiting for my NOA2 I was wondering is their a guide or something to reference about what is acceptable on a Police Report and what will get you a no go (like murder maybe).

Like what if you got caught for shoplifting. Or if they drag you to court for not paying your rent. Or an eviction.

or is it a embassy specific offense type of thing?

It depends what you did and when and if you have been honest about it in the rest of the process if it comes up.

A speeding offence 10 years ago that never reoccurred, for example. That would usually just get looked over. A murder, obviously, they will probably deny that one!

Shoplifting i suppose it would depend on when it was and if the crime ever happened again. If it was some candy when you were 14 i doubt they would be bothered. I obviously cant give 100% accurate information because i havent been through it yet (I dont have any offences either)and each embassy is slightly different with how they handle things. If you are worried, its worth giving them a call to know what to expect.

05-08-2014: Sent I-751 petition to VSC

05-13-2014: NOA1 (was not postmarked until 5/22/14 and received on 5/24/14)
06-18-2014: Biometrics in St. Albans, VT

11-21-2014: RFE. Received on 11/24/14.

01-22-2015: Interview notice mailed out. Received 1/26/15

02-12-2015: Interview in St Albans, VT - Approved during interview!

08-16-2012 : CRBA in London for our daughter - Approved!
09-11-2012 : CRBA and Passport arrived.

Drug offenses are bad , especially dealing . Crimes of violence against others. Anything that would be a felony. Sex acts against minors. Crimes against the US government. Crimes where you are declared mentally incopacitated. Multiples of any cominbation of the above.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
