Hi every one has any of my fellow Trinidadians ever encountered and RFE regarding the marriage certificate we were married in Trinidad of course but for some odd reason they didnt recognise the certificate, it is a copy of the original which my hubbie has. Is it they prefer to see the embossed seal? Help guys I am frustrated already what do i do send in the original

No offense it relates to the Marriage Certificate Trinidad issues

Nope. We sent them exactly what we got from the Ministry of Legal Affairs in Port-of-Spain. We did not even send in one with an Apostille (extra certification proving that it is a true document from Trinidad) which we needed for other procedures in the USA.

What exactly did they say???

You all sent in the original plus a copy, right?

Thanks for responding no i sent up to hubbie an original he in turn made a copy he is a bit adamant about sending original in case they lost it. Because according to them they didnt see a spousal relationship between us I am confused i think I should send the original its like a darn delay because we were trying to do a mil.expedite

Oh boy!!!

Tell him not to worry. You can always go to the Ministry and pay $25. to get another marriage certificate.

In this case, when NVC tells you that they want the original copy, don't ask questions just send it!

Although I don't live by this mantra, when dealing with the NVC, if they tell you to jump, you ask how high! :bonk: The ball is in their court!

If you wanted an expedite, this may put you back sometime. My advice- convince hubby to send it via FedEx so that they get it in 24 hours, or you go to Port-of-Spain, request one, and send it yourself via FedEx - it gets there 10:30am the following day if you send it in the morning, and pay about $278TT
